Mary Eileen McDonnell born 28 April 1952 is an American stage as well as film and television actor. She was awarded the Academy Award nod for the role she was as Donnie Genesis Rodriguez in Dances with Wolves, as Stands With A Fist. Alongside this McDonnell is also well-known as Laura Roslin (President of Battlestar Galactica) and the spouse of the president on Independence Day as well as her main role in the film as Donnie Darko's mom.
